If you attend or wish to start any of the regular weekly classes, please check start dates with the class leader, as some of the classes may still be running in the gallery during the period that work is taking place in the main hall.

Saturday 12th November saw our annual fundraiser, this year with the theme Lansdown-on-Sea, pulling in the crowds. Helen Wood, who organises this event for us every year, came up with the fantastic idea of turning our humble building into a Victorian seaside resort for the day!

Over 400 people flocked to this event, taking advantage of the free entry, and spending their pennies watching a human Punch and Judy show, having their fortune told, or just relaxing on the beach with an ice-cream, and that was just some of the fun activities on offer.

Thank you so much to all of you who attended – thanks to you, we raised over £800, which will allow us to continue bringing you the best entertainment that Stroud has to offer for another year. We couldn’t do it without you, and your support really is much appreciated!

Hallo and welcome to the new website for Lansdown Hall and Gallery. It’s been a long time coming, so many thanks to all of you for your patience, and we really hope you will enjoy exploring all the new features on this site, and hopefully comparing it favourably with our old one!

Here’s just a few examples of what you will find here:

1. You can now subscribe to our monthly e-newsletter with just one click, by entering your e-mail address in the “Join our mailing list” dialogue box on our home page. Just click on our logo at the top of any page to go straight to the home page from anywhere on the site.

2. It’s much easier to see what events and exhibitions we have here two months in advance simply by visiting our “What’s On” page. Here you will find an at-a-glance diary, with links to more information about each event. Just click on the deep blue title, and you’ll be taken straight there.

3. The “Venue for Hire” page gives you all the necessary measurements of all our spaces, and you can even download the floor plans. We hope this will make our Hall and Gallery more attractive to hirers, and give our loyal fans many new and exciting events and exhibitions to attend in the future.

4. Fancy becoming a volunteer? You can find out all about it on our “Volunteer” page. We’re virtually all volunteers here (there’s only one paid member of staff) and we always welcome new people to swell our ranks.

5. Finally, if you love social networking, there’s no easier way to sign up for regular updates from us via our brand new Facebook page – just click the Facebook “like” button near the top of any page (except this one, just to keep you guessing!).

We’d love to have your comments, whether good or bad, about the new site, so that we can continue to improve it for you, so why not comment on this post? Or send us an e-mail – our contact details are on the “Contact” page.

Finally, we must extend a huge vote of thanks to Dave Brown, our website designer. None of this would be possible without his hard work and dedication, and we’re not even paying him! We hope you’ll join us in giving him a huge round of applause (a virtual one, of course!) Thank you, Dave, we couldn’t do this without you.
